May 21 Newsletter Re: The Grapevine

Grace and Peace to you from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ!

IMPORTANT  MESSAGE!

Way back in 2011, we made the decision to give The Grapevine a new look.  I wanted it to feel more like a magazine than a newsletter.  We set standards for the order of the articles, cleaned up the look with columns, reduced the amount of clip art,  and started using our color printer.  I got a great deal of help from  Barbara Hunter who had been a professional copy editor.   I was very pleased with the new look and knew we had done a good job when other area churches started emulating our new look.

It’s been a decade, and I am informing you of more changes.  Obviously, in the past year, we have reduced the number of pages because there is just less going on at the church.  I suspect that will change.  But the big change is that we will be printing FAR fewer copies of
The Grapevine and mailing even fewer than that.   The reason is that our subscriber list is just hovering around the 200 mark.   And 200 is the minimum for maintaining a bulk mailing account.   Mary has been forced to be quite creative in reaching the 200 mark (e.g. every member of her household gets a copy!)

So what to do?  We are doing this.

·  If you a current member of OSLC and unable to come to church, we will still mail you a copy.

 ·  If you are able to come to church and prefer a paper copy, you will be able to pick one up in the narthex on the last Sunday of the month.  One per household, please.

· All others who want a copy will receive an electronic copy.

On the back cover is information that every subscriber needs to get back to the church.   Cut it out and mail it to the church.   Let us know by email to oslc1957@sc.rr.com (subject line-GV Subscribe).  Call up the church office and let us know your decision.   BUT LET US KNOW BY JUNE 25th.   If we haven’t heard from you, we will take you off the subscriber list.

The Grapevine is still an important communication tool here at OSLC, and it will continue to be.  However, printing and mailing as many we do is not a good use of our resources.  The printing, postage and manpower can be reduced, and so we will.

     Peace in Christ,

Pastor Lance
